Another week has passed! Things have calmed down some around here. Cami is sleeping much better now. During the night she usually goes down pretty easily with a pacifier and sleep machine. She usually spits the pacifier out within minutes – just needs a little bit of comfort sucking to help her relax. She did a little bit of cluster feeding around 10 days and last night – about 1.5 hours in between feedings vs. 2-3 hours.
I drove myself for the first time on Wednesday to my Lactation Consult. Breastfeeding is going much better. After the appointment, I took Cami to Target. She was a perfect angel! I put her car seat in the basket of the cart and she slept the whole time. We also took her to Tijuana Flats on Thursday for lunch. She slept in the car seat attached to her stroller. It was nice to get out of the house as a family!
The dogs have been adjusting better to Cameron as well. In the beginning they were very jumpy and always in our face, but they have since calmed down and just do an occasional lick or smell. I think they are slowly realizing she is here to stay!
We've been working on ‘tummy time’ as well. We’ll place her on her stomach on our chest and Cami works on lifting and turning her head. I’m impressed with how strong she is already! I tried her out on her play mat but she didn't seem very interested in it yet. We've been using her swing a lot. When she’s awake she’ll sit there calmly and just look out the window. So cute.
We had her two week follow up today and it was great to find out she was back up to birth weight! The day after we were discharged the pediatrician was concerned with her weight loss but now everything is back to normal! She’s also measuring long and lean as noted in her stats at the beginning of this post. We don’t go back until she’s two months for her first set of shots! We've been told to bring infant Tylenol with us!
My Postpartum Update
Pregnancy Weight Gain: 25 pounds
Weight Change: Down 5.6 pounds for a total change of down 28.2 pounds. I’m below my pre pregnancy weight but I’ve lost a TON of muscle since my exercise was very limited the past 9 months!
Activities: Enjoyed another walk around the block with Cami and a one mile walk with the whole family.
I’m finally feeling more ‘normal.’ All signs of swelling are gone, my emotions seem more in check ;), and I’m getting a little bit more sleep at night. I need to work on getting in a good nap during the day. Bryan went back to work today so it was my first day alone with Cami! I was pretty busy with the pediatrician appointment and a trip to target. It was so nice when Bryan came home from work. I’m sure he missed us. :)
