Caleb started out having a bit of a cold last weekend - typical baby stuff, runny nose, small cough - nothing too serious.  On Tuesday (Christmas Eve) Caleb's cold got a lot worse and he started refusing his bottle.  He was coughing A LOT in his sleep and started getting very clingy.

On Christmas, it all seemed to peak.  He was fussy if he wasn't distracted or being held, would only drink 1-2 oz. at a time and fought his naps really hard.  We were supposed to make the round Christmas afternoon but poor little man had to stay home with Grandma because we knew parading him around was not a good idea.  That night he threw up before bed.

Caleb seemed a little better Saturday morning because he slept all night and took his morning battle.  I thought things were on the mend, however I get a call from daycare saying Caleb threw up again.  I decided to make him a Dr.'s appointment (my deductible is about to reset so might as well take advantage of $7 visits while I can!).  We got the last appointment of the day and it turned out Caleb had a right ear infection as well as a skin infection in his diaper area (looked like a diaper rash just in a weird place.)  We started the antibiotics yesterday and are hoping he'll start feeling better soon.  I really hope he starts eating more as well because he's only eating about half what he normally does.

Caleb did a little bit better this week with only two night wakings. He is eating more as well so hopefully he's getting over that phase.

This week Caleb moved up to a new room in daycare. He is now hanging out with babies 8 - 13 months old. So far it seems to be going well, however he's not napping as much as he used to. This means he usually falls asleep on the way home from school and is definitely ready for bed by 7.

This weekend I plan to attempt giving Caleb Gentlease formula in place of the hypoallergenic formula he is currently on. I'm hoping it works out for him as it would help save a lot of money and open up additional food options (Yogurt, cheese, butter, etc.).

It must be this outfit - he always seem miserable when I take his picture in it.  I probably should feed him first after his nap instead of forcing him to pose... ;)

Caleb still has random night wakings. Most of the time he'll chug a bottle (4-6 oz.) and then immediately go back to sleep. He's started to eat baby puffs as well. He LOVES to feed himself them and they easily dissolve in his mouth. I tried some small pieces of soft carrot but those only made him gag. Looks like he needs a little more time before eating REAL solid food.

Little man definitely seems like he'll be ready to crawl soon! He loves to stand (with assistance) and can push himself into a downward dog V shape. Caleb we'll lean forward onto all fours but hasn't quite figures out what to do from there.

Oh little man. We tried yogurt this past weekend to see if Caleb could handle dairy. He seemed fine during the day but then proceeded to get up at 11:30pm and 4:30am. At 4:30 he refused to go back to sleep in his crib, swing, etc. The ONLY place he would sleep was on my chest at an angle. No way to tell if it was related to the dairy or not but the only other time he acted like that was when he had corn a few weeks ago. We shall try it again in a few weeks and hope for a better outcome.

Caleb also got up randomly a few nights this week. He has been falling asleep before drinking his last bottle so I think he's waking out of hunger.

I've found out another aspect of Caleb's sensitive skin. I have always used Aquaphor ointment for any redness in the diaper area. Caleb had some redness going on so I found an old cream I had (with zinc oxide) and decided to try that out. I also was out of ointment at school so I bought the cream version and they started using it their daily as well. Caleb's rash started getting worse and worse and turned into a swollen welted area everywhere the cream was used. He would SCREAM every diaper change when being wiped. We decided to switch back to the ointment and things got better rather quickly. So no more diaper cream for this little man!

Caleb has not been very interested in bottles this week. He is acting happy, but won't drink much more than 2 ounces at a time. It is quite frusterating. He is just showing more interested in food/cereal than bottles. Hopefully this will change as trying to get him to drink the Dr. recommended 16 oz. a day is such a battle! I took Caleb to the Dr. today to have his cheek checked out. He's had a red, circular outlined dry area off and on for many months now. We always chalked it up to a drool rash but it looks a lot like ring worm and some of the teachers at school were asking about it.. When I took him to the Dr. Caleb put on the perfect pose for him - fingers in mouth. It was actually quite funny because you could easily see the rash was an exact outline of his pointer finger. Basically with Caleb's sensitive skin, we will probably be battling this rash for as long as he sucks his fingers...

Halloween 2013

This year was Caleb's first Halloween! I went the relatively simple route and got him a Superman sleeper with a cape. I tried to gel his hair so he'd have the little curl right in front.

For Cameron, I made a beautiful tulle mermaid skirt. It was sooo pretty, however miss priss refused to wear it. Instead she wore a Minnie dress to school and then added a witch's hat for trick or treating.

Trick or treating was fun. Bryan and Caleb bowed out early due to mosquitoes. As soon as the sun went down, the mosquitoes were out in full force. We went to our side of the block with Carter and his family. About half way through Cameron started to get the hang of it and seemed to enjoy it.

Caleb had some baby food with corn in it this Wednesday. That night he was up for two hours straight and nothing would make him happy. He'd fall asleep on me, but would wake up instantly when I laid him in his crib. Finally he calmed down when put in his swing. This is the second time we've tried corn and the result both times was the same.

Happy Second Birthday Cameron!

We had a low key celebration for Cameron's 2nd birthday. Cami had a party at school with her friends where they all shared mini cupcakes. We picked her up an hour early and went to the neighborhood playground so she could run around and have some fun. After dinner we sang her 'Happy Birthday' and she enjoyed a giant cupcake. :)
