It's a...BOY!

We had our anatomy scan Wednesday the 21st, right before Thanksgiving!  We started the ultrasound and it was immediately obvious we are expecting a little baby boy.  He wasn't shy at all - the complete oppisite of Cameron.  The ultrasound tech checked a few times thorughout the scan just to be sure but there's really no mistaking it.  Bryan and I are both thrilled!  I'm especially excited about shopping for a new baby wardrobe.

It's a BOY!
Everything with baby boy looked great.  He measured within a day of his due date and in the 59th percentile.  His heart rate was beating away in the 140's - overall a very healthy boy!  Also, my placenta is on the front again (anterior) just like Cameron which is limiting the amount of movement I've felt so far.

Profile

Two Little Feet
There's one 'concern' the doctor had - apparantly my placenta is lower than they like to see it.  He said it's currently measuring 1cm above my cervix and they like to see it at least 2cm above.  The good news is it's not covering my cervix (placenta previa) which would force a c-section.  Typically as the uterus grows the placenta moves up and we will check it again by ultrasound around 35 weeks.  I guess worst case it's just noted on my file but I'll still be able to have a vaginal birth.  I'm kind of excited about seeing what baby boy will look like that far along!

Now it's time for some fun timelines! (Click Picture for Larger View)

Looking at the comparison pictures above I think I definitely showed a lot sooner with Baby #2 but I think the 20 week shots are pretty similar.

The Corn Maze

We went to the corn maze in Lakeland on Saturday November 3rd.  Cami and I along with Kelly made the drive down south where we met up with Kelly's family.  The corn did grow very tall this year due to record amounts of rain but there were a lot of other activities that kept us entertained for the day.

We spent some time on the swings.  Cami held on to the chains by herself and really enjoyed the breeze and motion.

They offered everyone two free shots on the corn cannon.  We aimed at a target in the distance to try and win a free Sno Cone.  Kelly was the only successful one.

There was a giant corn box (like a sand box - just with corn).  We tried twice to put Cami in it but she wanted NOTHING to do with it.  All the older kids seemed to really like it so many next year!

Cami was NOT a fan of the corn box

Cami and Me
We eventually made our way to the maze.  There were a few patches that had corn stalks as tall as us, but for the most part everything was one-two feet tall.

Making our way through the maze (a bit hard to get lost ;) )
The most fun was riding in the barrels.  They had a large tractor and about 6 hollowed out barrel carts on wheels.  There was a seat (and even a seat belt!) in each barrel.  The driver took us around the farm on a quick ride.  Cami and I both had fun on this one!

Cameron Takes Her First Steps!

Cami officially took her first steps tonight!  Bryan was working late so Cami and I were hanging out upstairs. She walked to the other side of her room with her walker and then played with a big box for a minute or so. She then turned around and started walking back towards me on her own.  I started counting her steps because I figured it would be one, two, MAYBE three - but she kept going.  I frantically grabbed my phone and turned the video recorder on as soon as possible to capture the rest.  Check out the video below - it's not the best quality but I'm excited to have it captured on video!

Baby #2: 19 Weeks

Week 19: Mango
"Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature."

Cameron's First Birthday Party

We celebrated Cameron's first birthday with a party on Saturday October 27th.  I decided on a red and black ladybug theme and had invitations designed for the occasion.
Invitation
We decorated the house with lots of red, black and white.  I made a banner to display Cameron's monthly photos as well as a decorated wall showing all the weekly photos I took of Cameron.

Bryan smoked a huge pork shoulder and we bought some rotisserie chickens to serve as the main dish.  We also had chips with salsa and queso, crackers and cheese, chicken nuggets (for the kids), veggies and fruit.  The pork seemed to be a big hit.

For dessert I made red velvet cupcakes with a chocolate ganache filling and cream cheese frosting.  I ordered a small cake from Publix for Cami to "smash".

Cami's Smash Cake
We changed Cami when it was time for her cake.  We all sang her "Happy Birthday" and she went to town on the cake!  She loved the icing and even made a decent dent in the cake.  I'd say it was definitely a success.

Overall, the party was a lot of fun!  Cami is so lucky to have so many friends and family that were willing to celebrate with her.  She had a lot of generous gifts that she's been enjoying since the party.
